FROM RESEARCH
TO PRACTICE

Organizational Behavior Management has been applied in healthcare and human service settings for decades, yet many practitioners are unfamiliar with the research and practice that shaped its role in these environments.

In this course, you will explore foundational OBM literature in healthcare, review case studies from the field, and examine the types of interventions and measurement strategies commonly used in healthcare settings.

By the end of the course, participants will gain a clearer understanding of the role OBM practitioners play in healthcare organizations and how behavior analysts can contribute within health and human service environments.

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR

Mary Lewis

PhD, BCBA
Mary has been an internal OBM consultant and researcher since 2019, specializing in providing OBM services in healthcare settings, with a focus on working with providers in autism clinics. Her specific research interest is applying OBM principles to improve workplace wellness, primarily among health and human service providers. She has served as an internal OBM consultant across three different clinics, providing process improvement using the science of Behavior Analysis while integrating burnout mitigation tools.

Her dissertation evaluated the effects of teaching job-crafting to reduce burnout and increase productivity among master's students in an ABA program. She also conducted a literature review of research on burnout in the field of behavior analysis. Some of the deliverables she has created for different clinics include a performance scorecard that also serves as a burnout assessment tool for RBTs, CEUs on moral injury, compassion fatigue, and the impacts of burnout specifically among those working in health and human services.

She looks forward to teaching other BCBAs about using OBM principles in health and human service settings!
