FAQ

How long is this course?

It's about 6 hours from start to finish, broken into four parts. There's a little bit of extra time built in to review the resources!

How many CEUs will I get?

6 Learning CEUs!

Who is this course for?

This course is for behavioral scientists who are interested in Organizational Behavior Management (OBM) concepts, who want to strengthen their project management skills, improve how they lead workplace initiatives, or explore careers beyond traditional clinical practice.

In order to get the most out of this course, we recommend having a basic understanding of behavioral terminology (e.g., SD's, reinforcement, shaping, etc.).

How is the course broken down?

Into 4 parts! Kristyn and Gina both lead two of the parts. We recommend completing them sequentially, since there is some carryover of concepts across lessons.

We broke the content down to teach new skills, generalize existing skills, and then focus on information that can help BCBAs pivot their career or continue on their project management learning journey.

What is project management for BCBAs?

Project management for BCBAs involves using behavioral and organizational skills to plan work, coordinate teams, manage resources, monitor progress, and complete projects successfully. Many skills used in behavior analysis, including data analysis, stakeholder communication, performance management, and barrier assessment, apply directly to project management.

What project management skills do BCBAs already have?

BCBAs often have experience setting deadlines, coordinating interdisciplinary teams, monitoring data, training staff, managing competing priorities, and addressing barriers to implementation. These transferable skills can support both project management responsibilities within ABA and a career transition into another industry.

Can a BCBA transition into project management?

Yes. A BCBA can transition into project management by translating clinical experience into language employers recognize, identifying gaps in their current skill set, and gaining relevant training or experience. This course helps behavior analysts connect their existing responsibilities to project management roles and job descriptions.

What project management tools are covered in this course?

The course introduces tools such as RACI matrices and RIDAC logs. Participants learn how these tools clarify responsibilities, document risks and decisions, track action items, and keep a project’s scope, schedule, costs, and resources on track.

What project management methodologies will I learn about?

The course introduces Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid project management methodologies. It also explains core Agile concepts such as sprints, points, velocity, and Scrum ceremonies so participants can recognize how different organizations structure and monitor project work.

How does behavior analysis apply to project management?

Behavior analysis can improve project management by helping leaders define expectations, measure performance, identify barriers, provide effective feedback, and reinforce the behaviors needed to complete a project. The course connects these behavioral principles to common project management practices and workplace examples.

What career options in project management are available to BCBAs?

BCBAs may qualify for roles such as project coordinator, project manager, program manager, portfolio manager, or Scrum Master, depending on their experience and additional training. Project management skills are used across healthcare, technology, manufacturing, education, research, finance, construction, and other industries.

Do BCBAs need a project management certification to change careers?

Not every project management position requires certification. However, a relevant credential may help demonstrate knowledge when an applicant has limited formal project management experience. The course explains how to review job descriptions, assess skill gaps, and decide whether additional training or certification would support your career goals.

Will this course help me write a project management resume?

Yes. The course shows participants how to translate behavior-analytic responsibilities into project management terminology, connect their experience to specific job descriptions, and describe measurable results. It also covers job-search strategies and professional networking.
